‘Candy Perfume Boy’.

STEVE LOPEZ

Melbourne designer Oscar Calvo is thrilled to announce his new collection ‘Candy Perfume Boy’. Drawing inspiration from Madonna’s song ‘Candy Perfume Girl’, Oscar channels her versatility along with a sporty boxing theme that translates into the new-gen velvet porcelain ‘Candy Perfume Boy’.

Silk organza spearheads throughout the collection from stylish shirts, weave sweater, through to the sporty long and short-sleeved mesh leather-hooded tops. A drop-crutch leather bomb with a colour palette from metallic to candy pink is dropped with high mesh leather hooded tops, leggings, shorts, pleated pant and a mesmeric full-length leather skirt with buckles and straps makes its mark. The Tran seasonal line also features a fine double-breasted trench coat and the punk-chic brocade plaid suit with fur collar and skull buttons that is bold and brings new meaning to panache.

Forget Alice in Wonderland’s voyage, you’ve dipped dyed your toe into the frivolous hot pink fete that brings you the visually monoclines aesthetic harmony that is the Candy Perfume Boy.

At the forefront of the Candy Shop, the defining pieces are a luxurious hot pink fur collard scarf and pink woolen suit. Collaborating with Alexandra Harper an extravagant looped hot pink headpiece makes a grand entrance along with a diamanté boxing headgear piece by Kerrie Stanley and the Oscar Calvo Male Couture leather honey comb metallic boxing title belt with Swarovski crystals, manifest the essence of this collection.

Candy boy turns bittersweet with the sexy custom-made acrylic choker and leather harness featuring a bold chunky zip bordering on BDSM.  Dipped dyed half pink and black leather spiked studded biker jacket – toying with eighties cultism and dangerous contemporary attitude this jacket is for Candy Boys with a sneaky tart side.

Precise fit, cut, premium European imported fabrics are characterised by an array of textures like soft silk chiffon, shiny chrome studs and stretched leather. Beautiful finished details including lining, chunky zips, buckles and buttons illustrate this daring, avant-garde vision that is Oscar Calvo’s sugar coated new collection.

New York based model David Sciola returns to lend his razor sharp good looks, adding to the versatility of the line.

Oscar Calvo celebrates 10 years of fashion

Oscar Calvo

Fashion designer Oscar Calvo celebrates 10 years of fashion with an anniversary collection at the premier fashion event, “Fashion Connect”. The label’s best collection yet!

To celebrate, Oscar Calvo has created the ultimate collection with some revamped customer favourites and signature looks, as well as an entire new range.

Oscar Calvo has become a frontrunner in the fashion industry in the last decade, receiving multiple prestigious awards including, winner of the Myer Fashions on the Field Design Award 2013, the top prize in the fashion category at the Melbourne Design Awards 2010, Victorian finalist at the Mercedes-Benz Start Up Program 2005, and designer of the year at the Fed Square End of Year Designer Showcase 2005.

Summing up the label’s ten years in the fashion business, the collection is in your face, glam, sophisticated, and neither masculine nor feminine.  His designs directly reflect and contradict his main source of inspiration – everyday life in metropolitan Melbourne.

With colour and fabric combinations previously unseen, Calvo’s range can best be described as a mix of combinations that merge intentionally to excite. Oscar Calvo’s design philosophy emphasizes customized, comfortable and precise fit combining luxurious premium fabrics and detailed construction across all offerings.

The range is based on a palette of purple, green, black, charcoal and metallic. As with past collections, Calvo re-invents the contemporary genre and injects the menswear fashion scene with its unique brand of modern, sexy, edgy yet upscale and wearable offerings. The collection for this season continues its tradition of excellence in quality and construction, favoring a range of luxe fabrications including: embossed snakeskin, mesh, stretch leather, silk satin, georgette and organza textures, wool, sequins, embroiderey and neoprene.

Calvo’s key looks on offer this season are his fitted gathered silk organza shirts with small collars, knockout bold diagonal striped mesh tops, a chic cropped hooded cape with straps and buckles, a stunning sequin zip up vest with embroiderey detail and a leather hood, a magical tie up pleated vest with a sequin collar and matching back panels. Three killer pant offerings from this range are the pleated dropped-crotch pant, the pleated pant with covered buttons running down the outside of each leg, and the hipster jogger. A must have fitted metallic floral blazer with a small collar and slim lapel, a fabulous trench coat with bold silver metallic buttons, buckles and straps on the sleeves and finished with metallic acid purple lining.

This is your chance to get your paws on your own piece of fashion history. The latest offerings from menswear designer Oscar Calvo are incredible, so prepare to be blown away! You can view his exclusive collection at this seasons premier fashion event, “Fashion Connect”.
