Oscar Calvo Male Couture announces new collection
‘Candy Perfume Boy’.

STEVE LOPEZ

Melbourne designer Oscar Calvo is thrilled to announce his new collection ‘Candy Perfume Boy’. Drawing inspiration from Madonna’s song ‘Candy Perfume Girl’, Oscar channels her versatility along with a sporty boxing theme that translates into the new-gen velvet porcelain ‘Candy Perfume Boy’.

Silk organza spearheads throughout the collection from stylish shirts, weave sweater, through to the sporty long and short-sleeved mesh leather-hooded tops. A drop-crutch leather bomb with a colour palette from metallic to candy pink is dropped with high mesh leather hooded tops, leggings, shorts, pleated pant and a mesmeric full-length leather skirt with buckles and straps makes its mark. The Tran seasonal line also features a fine double-breasted trench coat and the punk-chic brocade plaid suit with fur collar and skull buttons that is bold and brings new meaning to panache.

Forget Alice in Wonderland’s voyage, you’ve dipped dyed your toe into the frivolous hot pink fete that brings you the visually monoclines aesthetic harmony that is the Candy Perfume Boy.

At the forefront of the Candy Shop, the defining pieces are a luxurious hot pink fur collard scarf and pink woolen suit. Collaborating with Alexandra Harper an extravagant looped hot pink headpiece makes a grand entrance along with a diamanté boxing headgear piece by Kerrie Stanley and the Oscar Calvo Male Couture leather honey comb metallic boxing title belt with Swarovski crystals, manifest the essence of this collection.

Candy boy turns bittersweet with the sexy custom-made acrylic choker and leather harness featuring a bold chunky zip bordering on BDSM.  Dipped dyed half pink and black leather spiked studded biker jacket – toying with eighties cultism and dangerous contemporary attitude this jacket is for Candy Boys with a sneaky tart side.

Precise fit, cut, premium European imported fabrics are characterised by an array of textures like soft silk chiffon, shiny chrome studs and stretched leather. Beautiful finished details including lining, chunky zips, buckles and buttons illustrate this daring, avant-garde vision that is Oscar Calvo’s sugar coated new collection.

New York based model David Sciola returns to lend his razor sharp good looks, adding to the versatility of the line.

Fashion Menswear – Oscar Calvo A/W 2011

Oscar Calvo gives a nod to the 80′s New Wave California beach culture and New York’s emerging Hip Hop scene, cleverly mixing materials like mesh and snakeskin with touches of neon colours with a unique spin, tempering the looks with black, white, and gunmetal. The use of unique accents like rope, eyelets and zipper trims completes the look and gives the collection an edgy sense of modernity.

NEW KID IN (CHINA)TOWN

Long overlooked, downtown Sydney is home to the exotic, ever-so-tasty food, cheap clothes and curiousities galore. The perfect setting for someone who is new in town. Chinatown, can’t get you off my mind…

Our downtown hero is a wanderer. He’s a modern Wizard of Oz story…not meant to be here but he is. He can’t quite grasp Sydney winter, nor can we. Smells, colours and sights are so unfamiliar to him that they almost feel like home. In this strange paradoxical comfort Chinatown has it’s final effect. Wanderer’s wonder.
