OC OSCAR CALVO
OC Oscar Calvo is making its presence felt on the Australian fashion landscape. Melbourne-based designer, Oscar Calvo creates slick upscale design for the active urban male. The current collection delivers a selection of cotton, silk and linen blends in addition to the label’s signature luxury knits. Referencing the 80s New Wave California beach culture and New York’s emerging Hip Hop scene, the new range cleverly mixes materials like mesh and snakeskin with touches of neon and gunmetal. Unique accents such as rope, grosgrain ribbon, eyelets and zipper trims deliver an injection of underground cool.

This classically handsome “Mans Man” with his stunningly proportioned muscular physique was voted one of Cleo’s 50 Hottest Batchelors of the year and with his chiseled features, quintessentially masculine look and “Come hither eyes” I’m sure most will agree that he is one very attractive package.
It is with this in mind that Calvo has decided to team up with Daniel Garofali as the face of his latest Collection with photography by Emily Abay.
The Collection simply entitled: ‘Male’, is to be released in October 2010 along with a fresh website and another of OC’s ledgendary behind the scenes video of the photo shoot with Daniel.
If there is one thing we can be sure of, it’s that both this Collection and Abay’s shots of the sexy Daniel Garofali wearing it will be SIZZLING!

Founded in a studio in Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs in 2004, Oscar Calvo is fast becoming one of Australia’s most accessible men’s street wear labels. They specialise in tailored, preppy ensembles, capturing the essence of an active, adventurous and spirited lifestyle.
Calvo’s latest collection includes nautical inspired cotton polo knits in traditional black and white stripes, a close-fitted v-neck sweater, and a prep-tacular press-stud cardigan featuring contrasting grosgrain panels. The latter of the three is Calvo’s pick of the season, and should be worn in whatever way suits your personality best, be it buttoned-up like a private school boy, open and breezy like the city that the label calls home, or as part of a geek-chic, three piece suit.
The collection oozes Melbourne charm, reflecting elements of the city’s art, spirit and glamour, with a distinct worldly feel. Citing Gaultier’s macho sailor cliché as one of his inspira¬tions, Calvo recalls his label’s first runway show: “The people, the music, the lights… it was electric!”
There are a number of things that set this label apart from the sea of sameness in menswear on the market today, but the most important is their commitment to bridging the gap between fashionability and wearability. Oscar Calvo incorporates a deliberate sparring of styles, both retro and modern, with a carefree attitude and a classic aesthetic. Bring out the geek without compromising the chic.
Let’s take love back to the old school. Lose yourself in this classic seaside tale of boy meets girl, romantic prints and dapper elegance.
